The end of Roman Dacia: from “Dacia lost” to Aurelian’s withdrawal
Textbooks remember “Aurelian’s withdrawal of 271”. The ancient sources, however, speak of two moments: a Dacia lost under Gallienus and an organized withdrawal under Aurelian. And none of them says how many people left.
